Egbert-Jan Sol (1956), CTO of TNO Industry, is program director of Smart Industry, the Dutch Industry 4.0 program. He is also part-time professor research strategy at the Faculty of Science, Radboud University in Nijmegen. At European level he is vice-chairman of EFFRA, the 1.2 B euro Factory-of-Future PPP and member of the high level group of Manufuture. In the Netherlands he is, on behalf of TNO leadership involved in the Nationale Blockchain Coalitie and through Smart Industry in the blockchain fieldlabs with the missing to focus in realistic positing of blockchain with the Dutch society. Egbert-Jan Sol (MSc and PhD Mechanical Engineering) started his industrial career as robotics system architect, followed by a carrier from software project manager, realtime industrial systems development manager (Philips) and managing director of a 500 person Ericsson R&D centre. At Ericsson he had an assignment on introduction of Ethernet and the Internet Protocols e.g. (IPv6) within Ericsson systems architectures. From 1990-98 he was part-time professor Technology Management at the TU Eindhoven. He is also co-founder and current chairman of the Digital City Eindhoven (www.dse.nl). Since 1985, the start of robots, fieldbusses and Internet, he is a regular speaker on new technologies and the development of innovation.
