I studied Chemical Engineering in The Hague and Nijenrode business university in Breukelen, graduated 1991.
Worked for Avery Dennison, Heineken and Numico prior to AkzoNobel (mostly in The Netherlands, briefly worked for Numico in Lausanne (CH)).
Started working for AkzoNobel in 2007 and have held various positions. Current position is plant manager of the Metal Alkyls plant in Rotterdam, since September 2015.
"The team at the Rotterdam plant is working rather independently from the rest of the site and there is a typical “family feeling” amongst the staff. Before I joined, there had been a serious reorganization and business had shrunk significantly. Together with my team, I was able to turn around the downward trend and today we are continuously improving our performance with double digits, such as production volumes, OEE of the plant, on-time delivery, yields, product costprice and engagement of the people. I truly believe that the difference between mediocre performance and top performance is very small and has mostly to do with mindset of the people and obtaining positive results. For me, the process of building teams, giving them the confidence and trust they need and seeing the results this leads to, is the “pop” in my job!"
