Sebastian Schmitz is responsible for the application of the Industry 4.0 Maturity Index and the further support of producing customer companies as Senior Manager Industrial Practice. Over the past two years he has played a key role in the development of the Maturity Index and has led a number of Industry 4.0 Roadmap projects at manufacturing companies in various sectors. Prior to this, he was a project manager and doctoral student at FIR at the RWTH Aachen University in the field of digital networking. He studied Industrial Engineering and Management with the subject area Mechanical Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University.

The Pop in Your Job...

The challenge of my current job is to support different manufacturing companies with different approaches and different products. With the existing technical background it is 'fun' to support companies in digitisation with concrete projects. It is astonishing to realize that in the end the challenges are very similar, regardless of the product and the industry.

 

The Industrie 4.0 Maturity Center is aimed at manufacturing companies that are facing the digital transformation as well as at companies that support this transformation. Because the question today is not whether a company should transform itself, but how it can shape this digital transformation. With the Industrie 4.0 Maturity Index companies getting a tool to structure relevant projects.
